About the author

Nanci Race was born in a small city in Western, Massachusetts, the second of six children born to a middle-class family of Native American descent. When she was young, her family moved to the area known as The Berkshires, also in Western Massachusetts. She began writing at a young age and even won contests for her poetry when she was in middle school. Although she was encouraged to write by her English teacher, she pursued a career in nursing. Fast forward many years when taking a hiatus from nursing Nanci became the editor of a magazine on the arts. That led to a BA degree in Creative Writing and Literature which she started at Southern Vermont College. After being dually enrolled in Berkshire Community College and Charter Oak State College, two and a half years after starting her journey, she graduated from Charter Oak State in Connecticut.

Nanci returned to nursing for several years but was also writing. Eventually many years after completing her BA, she returned to school and within two years had completed her Master of Fine Arts Degree with a concentration in Writing at Lindenwood University in St. Charles Missouri. These days, Nanci is retired from over forty years of nursing and loves spending time with her family, particularly attending her grandchildren’s sporting events with her husband. She also is an avid sewist, having spent several years as co-owner of a sewing/tailoring store. In addition to sewing and reading, she enjoys almost all needle arts and travels whenever possible. Nanci has a published story, Code Blue Murder on Kindle/Unlimited. She also has stories on the Kindle Vella platform.
